Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education, a part of Department of Higher Education under Ministry of Education is a Government of India entity. MGNCRE is focused on Curriculum Development, Capacity Building, Research & Scholarship, Standardization & Accreditation of courses and Rural Higher Education; with the aim of enabling Rural communities for finding appropriate options to promote just, inclusive and equitable economic and social development. MGNCRE’s specifically developed courses on Rural Engagement, Rural Social work, Rural Teacher Education, Rural Management, Rural Entrepreneurship and Rural Communication help them accomplish these objectives.
CHALLENGE
- Water Conservation and Cleanliness Initiatives: MGNCRE is engaged in creating awareness about Water Conservation and Cleanliness and publishes 2 manuals in English namely; Jal Shakti Campus & Jal Shakti Gram Manual and Swachch Campus Manual. The Jal Shakti Campus & Jal Shakti Gram manual contains an Action and Implementation Plan to help Higher Education Institutions including Universities, Colleges and Polytechnics in developing strategies, action plans and implementation plans for water conservation on the campuses and in the villages with which the campuses are engaged with. The Swachch Campus Manual aims at promoting awareness about cleanliness in the Campuses and in the communities surroundings these campuses.
Multilingual Manual Publication: MGNCRE desired to launch high quality Jal Shakti Campus & Jal Shakti Gram manual translated from English to Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, Kannada and Bangla whereas the Swachch Campus Manual was needed to be translated from English to Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi and Kannada.
