CHALLENGE
- Clinical Trials Documentation: The select Doctors at CMC in collaboration with the Department of Infection, Immunity and Cardiovascular Disease, University of Sheffield, UK have undertaken a study on “A multisite evaluation of functional genomics signatures for the improved diagnosis of acute undifferentiated febrile infections”. This study aims to improve doctors’ tests for diagnosing causes of fever. There is a regulatory requirement that the candidates (participating patients) need to be educated about the objective of the study and regularly kept informed about what should they be expecting being a part of the study; in their mother tongue. This entails creating documentation such as Participant Information Sheet (Adult), PIS for children, PIS Control Form, Case Report Form, FGDx Assent Form, FGDx Consent Form, Guardian PIS Form and other clinical documents; and sharing some of these with participants.
- Multilingual Candidates / Participants: CMC being a reputed and a premier healthcare provider attracts patients from all over India who speak different Indian languages. The participants in the above study typically speak Tamil, Bengali, Telugu and Hindi and therefore the Clinical Trial documentation is needed in these Indian languages.
TRANSFORMATION
- Trustworthy Translation: eBhasha Setu employed their proprietary Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered Translation Platform & Processes, leveraging Natural Language Processing (NLP) technology and Deep Learning, to assist/enable Professional Translators to produce Publishable Quality Clinical Trails Documentation in Tamil, Bengali, Telugu and Hindi. The Transflow methodology further ensured that the quality, accuracy and efficacy of the translation process was of the highest level. “Human-in-the-loop” approach of eBhasha Setu ensured that appropriate post edit translation processes were deployed to ensure that the translated content appeared as if it was created in the translated language itself and was not a translated content from another language.
Improved Communication with Participants: The multilingual content shared with the participants in the above study helped in improving the overall communication with participants. It also helped reduce the fear of unknown as the information was available to them in their own language.
